Retrospective: Kate Moss

Kate Moss has been called the last true supermodel; a work of art in human form. Her unique features and undeniable beauty have made her one of the most well known models in the fashion industry. Her waif-thin figure popularized the “heroin chic” look of the '90’s, sparking much debate about the "size 0" model. She has been known for her vicious print and catwalk appeal, rock star partying, high-profile relationships, drug use and most recently her high profile wedding. In honor of Kate Moss’ nuptials, I thought it would be great to take a look back at her beauty through the years.

Kate Moss was discovered in 1994 in an airport and quickly rose to become part of the fashion elite. Seen here in 1994, she has a fresh, perfectly imperfect look. Notably as the face of Calvin Klein at the time, Klein referred to her as having a “childlike, womanlike thing”. Agreed. Her beauty is youthful and pure, yet sultry.

In 2000, Moss is seen with Jade Jagger in an understated, dewy look. Paired with her short haircut combed back, she looks like a good girl gone bad.

In 2001, Moss debuted a dark pixie cut. Her choice in color with light colored eye makeup and a berry lip allow her eyes to really sparkle. The hair and makeup choice give her the vicious girl next door look.

In 2002 at a Mario Testino opening, Moss opts for a vicious, man-eater look. Heavily lined eyes, piled-on mascara and a demure lip draw attention to her eyes. A messy updo and the draping of the dress give her an effortless look that says, ‘I’ve been breaking hearts for years, and I’m not sorry.’

Seen here in 2007 at the Golden Age of Couture gala, Kate Moss displays why she was able to make arguably the greatest comeback the fashion industry has seen; pure confidence. Here, she wears a fresh face once again allowing the focus to be her eyes with a sleek, pulled-back hairstyle. She exudes the confidence and radiance of a woman that has seen life’s highs and lows and has come out on top and in control.

In 2007, Kate Moss launched her signature fragrance and her clothing line with Topshop all while rocking the fringe. Her bangs and brightly colored eye give her a fun and sexy look. Paired with sequins, we have a recipe on how to properly wear a '70’s inspired look.

In 2008, Moss opted for a shorter bob and natural face. This look and her natural glow gave her a more modern, youthful look.

2010 saw a matured Kate Moss, looking better than ever. A nude lip, cat eyes, long layers and bangs give her a stunningly sexy appearance. Apparently Moss is like a fine wine; she really does get better with age.

On July 1, 2011, Kate Moss wed Jamie Hince in a vintage style dress and wore loose curls and natural-looking makeup; an appropriately simple look for a countryside wedding for a beautiful blushing bride.

Kate Moss ties the knot!

On July 1, England - and the world - watched as yet another stylish Kate tied the knot. Supermodel and fashion icon, Kate Moss, 37, married rocker fiancĂ© Jamie Hince, 42, in Southrop, England at St. Margaret’s Parish Church. The bride chose close friend John Galliano to design her wedding dress with floor-length veil. (Galliano could certainly use the positive publicity in the midst of his current legal woes.) The cream bias-cut dress had a sheer skirt and was sprinkled with rhinestones and detailed with gold leaf embroidery. For hair, she chose Sam McKnight, for makeup she went with Charlotte Tilbury. Manolo Blahnik designed a custom-pair of heels for the occasion, complete with blue lining on the inside for her “something blue”. The groom went with something blue of his own, a custom-designed suit from Stefano Pilati for YSL.

Moss had a total of 15 bridesmaids, with her chief bridesmaid being her eight-year-old daughter Lila Grace, who wore Stella McCartney. Lila's father - and Moss's former partner - publisher Jefferson Hack was just one of the 300-person guests in attendance. Other notable attendees included Naomi Campbell, Vivienne Westwood, Stella and Mary McCartney, Jude Law, Jade Jagger, Primal Scream frontman Bobby Gillespie and US Vogue Editor Anna Wintour. Wintour will revisit the lavish affair, which reportedly cost £1million, via Vogue's annual (back-breaking) "September Issue" with photos taken by world famous fashion photographer, and friend to Kate, Mario Testino.

After the ceremony Moss had three wardrobe changes, all designed by Stella McCartney - an oyster silk chiffon dress for her first dance, a micro mini bodycon dress for the after party and lastly a three piece off-white wool suit as her send off outfit. The three-day affair, nicknamed 'Moss-stock' by locals, included performances by Beth Ditto, Snoop Dogg, Shirley Bassey, Iggy Pop and Bryan Ferry.

Best wishes to the newlyweds. May their life together be long, happy, healthy and fashionable!

Not to be outdone by her own wedding, Moss also had this to celebrate.
